nathalie vergnolleDr. Vergnolle is a research director at Inserm in Toulouse and holds an assistant professor position at the University of Calgary where she spent 10 years. Trained in pharmacology, Dr. Vergnolle works on gastrointestinal pathologies and has gained international recognition with his work on some of the mediators involved in inflammation and pain. More recently, she has studied the role of the intestinal epithelium in irritable bowel syndrome and the possible relationship between mediators derived from the epithelium and the activation of enteric neurons. Since 2016, Dr. Vergnolle has headed the new Institute for Research in Digestive Health (IRSD), a structure supported by Inserm, Inra, University Paul Sabatier-Toulouse III and the National Veterinary School of Toulouse.

eric oswaldDr. Eric Oswald is a trained veterinarian. He obtained a PhD in Microbiology in 1990 and worked then at the University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, USA. Until 2009 he worked as a Director of Researcher at INRA at the National Veterinary School of Toulouse (France). In 2009, he was appointed professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Toulouse and he is currently Professor of Bacteriology and Hospital Practitioner at the University of Toulouse. He is the head of the Bacteriology-Hygiene Laboratory and Deputy Director of the Institute for Digestive Health Research (IRSD). He is an expert in cell microbiology and molecular biology of pathogenic Escherichia coli. His main research is the study of toxins and their vectorization. His group works in human and animal health to better understand the border between commensal enterobacteria and pathogens and to develop new therapeutic approaches
